The Babe With The Power

“Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered I have fought my way here … for my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom as great. You have no power over me!” – Labyrinth

Two weeks ago the judge ruled in our favor! We were to make a transition schedule with the guardian and see Mae almost every day. We were on cloud 9 and praising God!

After 2 visits with Mae we thought it was working out. Then on Valentine’s Day her caseworker called to say that our visitations were being postponed. A few days of uncertainty and we found out that they appealed the judge’s placement ruling. But the judge said we still get visitation until a new hearing can take place. We had 2 more visits and then they did it again, more appeals and objections.

Three things came to mind today as I contemplated all of these things: an Anberlin song, Moses, and Daniel on trial.

“This is the correlation of salvation and love. Don’t drop your arms. I’ll guard your heart. With quiet words I’ll lead you in and out of the dark”

Throughout all of this we have praised God and prayed that He do what is best for this little girl. He is guarding our hearts and leading us.

Exodus 17 has a similar image, arms raised to God. During a battle Moses lifted his hands toward heaven and the Israelites were winning. If he lowered his hands they would lose. Later on Moses needed the support of his brother and friend because he was becoming tired. How true it is that you need a good support system! We have asked so many of our family and friends to pray over this situation, again and again.

Daniel 6 is the famous story about the lions den. However, the events leading up to the lions are just as interesting. The authorities wanted to get rid of Daniel, but he was upholding the law. They used deceitful tactics to make him look bad and get him thrown in with the lions. God spared Daniel because he had no faults.

We knew that adoption would be a roller coaster and that we would have to work hard, but we trust in God’s plan. He will win the battle and spare us from the lions. We can’t do it alone!
